Prof. Stanislav Gorb and Dr Lena Gorb visit the Mechanical Intelligence Research Group at LSBU

03/03/2026

On 3 March 2026, we were delighted to host Prof. Stanislav Gorb and Dr Lena Gorb at London South Bank University (LSBU) for a visit to the Mechanical Intelligence (MI) Research Group.

The visit brought together researchers working at the interface of biology, mechanics, and engineering translation. We shared ideas across a range of topics relevant to mechanically intelligent systems, including functional morphology, biomechanics, and bioinspired design principles. Members of the MI Research Group also delivered short presentations showcasing several ongoing research projects, which led to constructive discussions, valuable feedback, and a number of promising directions for future collaboration.

Prof. Gorb is a distinguished, world-leading researcher widely recognised for his pioneering work on biological attachment and friction systems and their technological translation. He is also the 2026 Verrall Lecture speaker at the Royal Entomological Society.

We sincerely thank Prof. and Dr Gorb for their time, insights, and inspiring conversations, and we look forward to building on the ideas discussed.
